  • Where is the event at?

    City Pool - Manhattan, KS
  • When is the event?

    July 4th from 8 am to 12 pm
  • Does it have to be a parent that helps?

    No, can be an adult responsible for safety and wellbeing of child.
  • Will there be lifeguards?

    Yes, lifeguards will be on site to monitor safety of participants.
  • How much is it?

    The entry fee for building a boat is $20.  That includes one child and one parent.  T-shirts will be available for purchase for an additional $10 per shirt
  • What do I need to bring?

    If your child requires swimming assistance, we strongly encourage bringing a personal flotation device.  We also recommend bringing a cutting device (box cutter, utility knife, scissors)(no power tools), sunscreen, water, and seating.  
  • How does this work?

    Each crew will be provided one new 4’ x 8’ piece of cardboard and one roll of duct tape.  From there, we will have piles of cardboard on a first come, first serve availability to build a ship.  The ship must be constructed only from the supplied cardboard and duct tape.  If you need a box cutter, we will have a limited supply of these available to adults. 
  • Where do I register?

  • Will there be any snacks provided?

    Concessions will be available.
  • Where do I park?

    City Park area will remain open for parking. 
  • Do I need to prepare anything?

    Nope!  But a recommendation is to research design options to have an idea prior to building of what you want to build!  
     
     
  • Are there scholarships available?

    Yes!  You may fill out an application by click here.
  • What are the prizes?

    Racers can win one of three categories: Fastest, Most Creative, and Most Innovative.  The Fastest is for the first racer per category and age range to reach the finish line. Most Creative will be for an individual per category with a creative ship whether that be costumes, coloring of ship, or a combination (must have child's participation).  Most Innovative is for the most unique design.  A child can only win one prize, example: if someone wins fastest for their age group, they are not eligible to win Most Creative or Most Innovative.
